Opinion: Conspiracy theories shouldn’t be easier to believe than women | The Niner Times

For years, women have been publicly telling their stories of being trafficked and abused by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and those around him. To the police, to the media, online and in public speaking events, they have continuously, without avail, appealed to the public to investigate and prosecute their legitimate claims of sexual abuse and human trafficking.
But now, with the release of the "Epstein files," online conspiracy theorists have instead platformed unfounded accusations while casting doubt on these women's stories, showing just how far our society goes to ignore women who have experienced sexual abuse while aggrandizing the rich and powerful only if they personally inconvenience themselves.
